Real cars for Transformers

silberstreifA few months ago I saw a Concept Car and thought: "This could be Sunstreaker." The beginning of the end. I started looking for cars that fit my own perception how the Transformers on Earth may look in their alt form.
And here they come - cars, most of us will never drive:
SIDESWIPE - BMW M1 Concept 2008
Status: Concept Car
Price: As if they would sell this baby.
Comment: It's a hommage to the M1 at its 30th anniversary. The original M1 was a super sport car "of superlatives and a highly emotive vehicle that was uncompromisingly primed for the race track".

The picture that began everything and neatly ended my (remaining) sanity. Unimportant information aside: The location is BMW World in Munich. The town I currently live in. :)
So, why Sideswipe?
1) This car is red, very elegant, and definitely a looker. Certainly the basics for Sunstreaker's twin and a mech that was in the past a lamborghini. Vanity, no, he's just showing is natural beauty. Furthermore, this concept car is sleek, fast and doesn't even try to hide its power, just like our warrior.
2) I wanted more than just a good sports car. With the Micheal Bay movies, Sideswipe has evolved into a grown-up character and a capable warrior, and this car represents it. It just has this feeling of barely hidden danger, speed, and efficiency.
Further, the front is very narrow. It reminds me of the small holes for artillery between armor. Something I definitely like in a warrior.
3) This is not only a concept car, but a hommage at the old M1. In a way it's a bridge between past and now; and for me, between G1 Sideswipe, and Movie Sideswipe.
I think Sideswipe would love this car, disguise and discretion be damned. No need to be less then the best, when the paparazzi come!

When I look at it, all I can think is - "Wow... shiny..."
Very eloquent, I know, but probably entirely Sunstreaker's goal. Among enemies famous for his sociopathic tendencies, among friends,...well, associates, famous for his narcisstic behaviour. He's the most happy if everyone admires him, and his frame, and his paintjob. And Primus can't help you if you destroy the latter. Last wishes are overrated anyway.
Sadly, Sunstreaker was not part of the movies. Rumours say, he quit after discovering that Bay likes explosives and the resulting dust clouds were just not his thing. I mean, look at him, and now imagine a a big, dirty dust cloud... No.
Of course, other people (= twins) claim, that he threatened some persons (Bay, a fox (animals are allowed?), a kid called LeBeouf,...), because the carwash was too far. Not the way to seek permanent employment.
Why this car?
1) It's a Lamborghini, and with Sunstreaker not part of the movies, I thought let's go back to the roots. Besides somehow most cars don't look good in yellow or gold.
2) The frame is aerodynamic, elegant and the doors are the antitheses to practical.
3) The color. And did I mention that this car was sold for 3.5 million $ as a scale model?
4) It's fast, very fast and more than capable of leaving any normal car in the dust.
5) Where ever you go, with this car you will NOT be overlooked. Or forgotten. You kind of need to be a narcisstic, arrogant sociopath to get into this car and show the whole world, just how good, and rich, and drop dead gorgeous you are.
Pity those, who try to steal this car. Sunstreaker will be furious - and when he's through with those stupid little humans - amused.
