Oneshot: Seeing each other again...

Prompt: #1 Challenge: write a flashfic (300 to 500 words) focusing on an interaction between a character of your choice and the leader of the opposite faction. (7th July 2012) tf_speedwriting
Summary: Megatron visits a new prisoner... one about whom he knows far more than he should.

Seeing each other again

"So, this is how we see each other again," said Megatron as he came to a stop in front of the prisoner, who was bound to the chair. "I have to admit, I hadn't expected you to fight at the frontlines and then to sacrifice yourself. It's not exactly your kind of move, right?"

The black and white kept silent, but the look he gave the warlord was a reminder of the battlefield and its fierce and dark bloodlust. Megatron smiled.

"My army underestimated you. Shockwave had to analyse the fight four times, until he knew how you defeated Octane and the Lead Trine at the same time. They're all so very embarrassed by this whole ordeal."

Still no answer. The warlord put a hand on the left doorwing, once elegant and proud, now just a shredded and bleeding thing. Nearly lovingly, he caressed the burned edges. The appendage trembled.

"Of course, I could tell them that you are not a civilian, but a warrior frame in its truest sense." The servo hand dipped into the wound and the bound mech moaned. "That your bulky Praxian frame is nothing more than an illusion to hide the extra strength and agility and weapons. That your battle computer doesn't only crunch numbers for the best tactical plan, but enhances your movements and battle awareness to deadly levels with barely any effort. That your intense training and experience alone makes you a most dangerous enemy..."

He found a few cables in the hole and twisted. This time his prisoner choked on a scream. Fresh energon dripped on the floor.

"I wonder if you even feel the pain or if you only act for me."

Megatron stepped around the chair. The Praxian tried to keep him in sight, but failed. Good. He leaned forward until his mouth was next to the audio.

"Did you ever tell your precious Prime that you long for battle? That your claws aren't a last line of defence, but your favourite tool for savage maiming? That beneath your polite cold reputation lies a hot-blooded cruel warrior?"

For a moment the whole mech trembled and his vents exhaled air, then he was still.

"Of course not," whispered Megatron in triumph as he opened the shackles. "Because above else, you're a wonderful liar."

The injured mech moved his arms into a more comfortable situation, but didn't look at his tormentor.

"But for all that I know, I still have one question: Why did you come here, Prowl? You chose to be an Autobot."

And suddenly the tactician turned around on the chair, smoothly as if he didn't even feel the various wounds and grabbed Megatron's throat. The warlord froze.

"Would you believe me if I said I've missed you, creator?"

"No." Megatron grinned. "But welcome back anyway."


Note: The most difficult part was to keep it below 500 words. It forced me to make every word count.

Thank you! I'm glad that I could surprise you, aren't that sometimes the best fics? The ending was kind of a surprise for me too, when I wrote it... in the beginning I didn't know what the end would be.

Thank you! Yep, Prowl is Megatron's beloved, hated, praised and very often cursed creation. :) He's probably proud... if only wouldn't be such a thorn in his side. But all creators/partents say that or something similar, right? ;)

Alright, I admit it: while I suspected right from the title you had chosen that Megatron and Prowl would have a deeper connection in this FF, I didn't see the ending coming; that Prowl would stay with the Decepticons? Yes, but not that Megatron is Prowl's CREATOR! °-°

Really nicely done, it's fitting! The way you depict Prowl here, all those extra power hidden in his frame, the possibility that he's just acting etc - that really works, builds a connection between those two that really worked for me! :)

Is there a possibility that you will write a sequel to this? I would be both interested in the reaction of the other Decepticons to the revelation that Prowl was created by Megatron AND the Autobot side of things... Optimus faceplace alone when he get's the news, refuses to believe it, and then has to face harsh reality... Ohhh ^.^"

PS: Little grammar thing - this sentence: "Because above ALL else, you're a wonderful liar." The 'all' is missing, I think.

Glad I could surprise you, despite the hints in summary and title. :D They're so... lovely dangerous together. And at least for me Megatron and Prowl are really developing quite the dynamic.

There is a possibility I write a sequel, yes. :) I already know the back story, and more than a few of the reactions... now I just need to find time and the right motivation.
Optimus will be due for a harsh awakening. But it will rock both sides of the war. Starscream's reaction will be worth watching as well.

I think you can write "above else" as well... just that it's more uncommon... but now I'm not sure anymore. I'll have to ask. ^^"

For lack of other words: a Prowl 'gone dark side' together with Megatron? As a team? As creator and creation? Awesome! Though I think Megatron as more to fear now; Starscream is mostly incompetent when it comes to dethroning him, but Prowl...? Uh, what a thought! :)

I think the only being Megatron would maybe accept dethroning (and killing) him, is his own creation. ^^

Hm, I don't know, I think Megatron would prefer to rule himself over the Decepticons, preferably for forever and a vorn ;) I suppose it really depends on which Verse you have based him...

I like Starscream too, I just wish the writers in canon would allow for him to be a bit more successful/smart in his schemes to take over.
